Photo Gallery: Halloween Decoration Contest Winners Announced

This year organizers left the judging up to YOU! More than 30 people came out on Monday evening to judge the entries of the 2011 Halloween Decoration Contest put on by the City of Gulfport Recreation Division. There were 11 entries in three categories this year.

Who won?

Haunted House: "A Year of Madness," 900 63rd St. S.

General (Home): 2020 Gray St.

Commercial: Yummy's, 2914 Beach Blvd.

A plaque will be awarded to one winner of each theme category and be presented a certificate at the Gulfport’s City Council meeting (televised) Tuesday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m.

Organizers say it was a tight race - less than one point separated the first and second place haunted house winners.

Didn't make it out to judge? No worries, you can still swing by the haunted houses on the list and a few others in the area.

"A Year of Madness" (The Winner!)

• Price: The group accepts several donations for several organizations. Items include: money, food, blankets, dog/pet food, school supplies/backpacks and personal hygiene items.

"The Hollow"

• Where: 5602 Newton Ave S.
• When: Fri, Sat, Mon (Oct. 28, 29 & 31)
• Time: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
• Price: $2 donation for the Fire Explorers Post 945.

"The Midway Massacre"

• Where: 5613 Newton Ave S.
• When: Fri, Sat, Mon (Oct. 28, 29 & 31)
• Time: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
• Price: $2 donation for the the Gulfport Little League
