Officer David S. Crawford died Monday night after he was shot multiple times while trying to apprehend a suspected burglar near the 700 block of 3rd Avenue South in St. Petersburg.

46-year-old Officer David S. Crawford leaves behind a wife, Donna, and a 24-year-old daughter, Amanda.

“He was an honorable man, he was a family man,” St. Petersburg Police Chief Chuck Harmon said at an afternoon press conference.
