Solar Panels Let the Sunshine In
Solar power and other energy alternatives can help you save money while helping the environment.
In light of current movements around the world, I thought it would be appropriate to share the ways in which homeowners and business owners can start making the shift to renewable energy. Not only is it important for the environment that we start heading in that direction; it's also important to our bank accounts.
Floridians have a unique opportunity to harness one of our greatest natural resources without having an impact on our environment: solar power. There are many incentives for homeowners and business owners who choose to make the shift to solar panels as a renewable energy alternative. Although it is not the only option for alternative energy, it is certainly the most feasible and affordable for homeowners.
Solar panels on rooftops are one of the greenest and most earth-friendly alternatives known to man. Every time a kilowatt is generated from an alternative source, dangerous and dirty coal-burning generators loosen their grip on American families. Solar power is a greener and healthier way to power the chandeliers over our dinner tables.

Here's how solar panels work.
Solar panel electricity production has great federal and state incentives. Florida in particular has many grant and rebate programs. There are also solar leasing programs that help homeowners install units on their roofs for little to no money over several years. This program allows homeowners to save money while investing little to nothing. In contrast to solar energy, geothermal energy – which is also a great alternative to conventional energy generation – requires an investment, but over time the return on the investment will greatly outweigh the cost.

As with all things needed to make a great change, it takes a great number of people to take steps in the right direction. Right now, while Florida’s coastal environment inches closer to the threats of offshore drilling within 10 miles of our coast, it is our great responsibility to make changes from within. Do yourself a favor and look into getting out of the dirty coal- and oil-burning business, start embracing the alternatives and let the sunshine in. Get informed about how Florida is making the shift.
There are many other options when it comes to renewable energy alternatives. If you or someone you know is a commercial business owner, perhaps getting an energy audit would be the most beneficial place to start. I know what I do about audits and lease options from my good friends at Thermo Source. They offer energy audits and energy-related capital improvements, helping position you for a great return on investment and, inevitably, to profit.
So, with all of this information, make it a point to come up with a five-year plan on how to create healthier alternatives for you and your loved ones. Do research on local initiatives, take classes, watch tutorials online. Find solar resources in your community. One small step in the right direction can help change the world.
