Bay Post Internet, St. Petersburg's noise issue is not just in downtown, it's citywide.
Noise is a big issue in St. Petersburg. The current ordinance is rarely enforced, and citizen complaints usually go unresolved.
Principal among the objectors to any noise ordinance are night club, bar and craft beer brewery owners who claim they need the noise to attract business.
At this upcoming meeting and in the council meeting(s) that follows, you can expect a parade of beer powered businesses supported by the ever so socially minded St. Pete Chamber of Commerce that this ordinance will lead to the demise of their businesses.
There is simply no data to back up their claims that they can entice customers from several blocks away with a booming bass.
Unless you live in proximity of one of these establishments, it may be difficult to appreciate the problem, but if you do the issue is crystal clear.
The bar, brewery and nightclub crowd have a lot of money to toss around, and they would like to convince City Council they have a lot of clout, but the truth is they don’t.
This is an important meeting, and you should make time to attend.
