The Canine 'Nutcracker'

This is the part where she leaped through the air like a ballerina, paws out, full force, right at him, and into his jingle bells!

I recently watched Kaiah leap through the air like she was in the classic ballet, “The Nutcracker.”

I have to be honest and say that I did not come up with this title, a friend of mine did; however, I do have to tell you how she received this label.

I go to the dog park  daily. By going every day at the same time, my dogs get to play with their friends, and I get to talk to mine. The fun part about this is the dogs also become close to the friends I have. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on how the dog acts, and if you are OK with it.

The other day, Kaiah and Grayson had not run very much, and right as we were leaving they thought it was just the time to start playing with their friend, Sadie, a miniature Australian Shepherd.

Kaiah is chasing Grayson, and then Sadie chases Kaiah. It is rather funny to watch everyone chasing each other, with the smallest one behind the bigger one, all the way down the line.

As they are running and playing, they start running really fast, and if you were to ever see Kaiah, you would see she has nothing but muscle.  When Kaiah runs, she gets close to the ground and runs as fast as she can.  She started running like a crazy dog, with the other two following.

Sadie’s dad was standing there, not really watching the dogs as they play so good together. All the dogs went running toward him, and since they were playing chase, I made the mistake of assuming that they were just going to keep running….I was wrong!

Kaiah decided it would be so much fun to say, "Hi," to Sadie’s dad. This is the part where she leaped through the air like a ballerina, paws out, full force, right at him, and into his jingle bells!

Poor guy was not feeling so well, and I felt horrible! Luckily, my friend did not get upset with me or Kaiah for that matter, but did decide to rename Kaiah, “The Nutcracker.”

Just goes to show, we cannot always anticipate what our dogs are going to do, and fortunately for me and Kaiah, my friend has a great sense of humor.
