Veterans Day at Bay Pines

A special ceremony Friday offers an opportunity to honor and thank the men and women who have served in this nation's military.

The annual Veterans Day ceremony at Bay Pines is Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Bay Pines VA Medical Center National Cemetery.

The keynote speaker is Mike Prendergast, Executive Director for the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. The retired Army colonel, a  Tampa native, served 31 years of active duty as a military police officer, according to the VA.

Other guest speakers are Kris Brown, Interim Director at Bay Pines, and U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young. The ceremony will also include: a firing salute, taps performance, military vehicle display and music selections by Keswick Christian High School.

Parking is available nearby. Shuttles will provide transportation for
guests from parking lots to the ceremony area.  The outdoor venue is handicapped accessible; please dress appropriately for  inclement weather.
