Today's riddle: What is the 1 way to guarantee winning a small fortune at the casino? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Jacksonville airport expected to open new Concourse B on Jan. 28 (jaxtoday.org) — Jacksonville International Airport's new Concourse B is set for a Jan. 27 ribbon-cutting, with American Airlines flights beginning Jan. 28 from six new gates. The city expects to issue a certificate of occupancy Dec. 30, giving vendors several weeks to set up before travelers start using the expanded concourse.
2. Parents, nonprofits push for youth mentorship after Jacksonville teen killed, another wounded in weekend shootings (news4jax.com) — A Jacksonville teen was killed and another wounded in separate weekend shootings, spurring parents and local nonprofits to push harder for youth mentorship. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida is highlighting the need for positive role models as investigators, including JSO and state agencies, continue their work.
3. Brazil-based manufacturer setting up North Jacksonville distribution center (jaxdailyrecord.com) — A Brazil-based flooring and building products company is bringing a major distribution operation to North Jacksonville's Eastport Exchange, with a contractor already seeking city permits for nearly 100,000 square feet of warehouse space. The project, part of a larger industrial park now about 25% leased, is expected to begin phased operations in late 2026 and adds to a growing cluster of logistics and wood-products tenants on the Northside.
4. Moné Holder takes 51.17% of vote in final Jacksonville City Council vote tally (jaxdailyrecord.com) — Moné Holder has officially secured the Jacksonville City Council At-Large Group 1 seat with 51.17% of the vote, avoiding a November runoff. Her win slightly narrows the Republican majority on Council and reflects strong support in urban, Southwest, and Northwest Jacksonville neighborhoods ahead of a full-term election in March 2027.
