1. Nemours hearing therapy, UF Health mobile unit, new St. V's president (miramarflnews.com) — Jacksonville families should know Nemours Children's Health here helped pioneer a newly approved gene therapy that's allowing young children with inherited deafness to hear whispers for the first time. UF Health Jacksonville is also launching a mobile health unit with screenings and education at neighborhood sites starting Sept. 26, while Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside welcomes a new hospital president this month.
2. Regency Centers Seven Pines build-out estimated at $9.5 million (jaxdailyrecord.com) — Regency Centers is planning a $9.47 million build-out to move its headquarters from Downtown Jacksonville to The Village at Seven Pines near Butler Boulevard and I-295, while keeping hundreds of jobs in the city. The new office will integrate with a Publix-anchored shopping center opening stores in 2027, further reshaping Jacksonville's growing Seven Pines community and downtown business mix.
3. Oak Steakhouse Coming Soon to Downtown Jacksonville's Historic Greenleaf Building (whatnow.com) — Downtown Jacksonville's historic Greenleaf building is set to welcome Oak Steakhouse, bringing a modern, high-end dining option with a basement speakeasy-style bar to Laura and Adams streets. The Charleston-based concept plans to open its first Northeast Florida location in early 2027, anchoring the Greenleaf's restoration and adding fresh momentum to downtown's ongoing revitalization.
4. YouTuber assaulted student with autism in bathroom stall, filmed him, police say (wsbtv.com) — Police say a Georgia man was arrested in Jacksonville after allegedly assaulting and filming a University of North Florida student with autism in a campus restroom stall for a YouTube video. Officers report he put the student in a headlock, ordered him to stay put with a phone timer, and was later tracked down on campus and charged, then released on bond.
5. Jaguars open season with rebuilding Browns (tribtoday.com) — Jacksonville football fans are gearing up as the Jaguars open a highly anticipated season at EverBank Stadium against the rebuilding Browns, even as renovations limit capacity to 45,000. Coaches and players say continuity from last year's AFC South title run should help them push deeper into the playoffs, with new weapons and a confident receiving corps ready to test Cleveland's secondary.
