• Local man who skipped town on final day of trial nabbed in Mexico (keysweekly.com) — A Key Largo domestic violence and carjacking case has ended with a guilty verdict on 11 felony counts for Armando Lopez, who fled during his trial but was later captured in Mexico. Jurors found him responsible for brutally attacking his ex-girlfriend, assaulting a Monroe County deputy, stealing a patrol car, and carjacking another woman in Key Largo. He now faces a possible life sentence.
