1 Dead, 2 Shot By Neighbor While Reportedly Looking For Dog

The Polk Sheriff is determining why a 48-year-old Fort Meade man opened fire on three neighbors, killing one and injuring the other two.

FORT MEADE, FL – Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Grady Judd said investigators are still in the process of determining why a 48-year-old Fort Meade man opened fire on three neighbors, killing one and injuring the other two.

According to Judd, the shooting occurred at 6:42 p.m. Monday, June 18 when three men who live at 121 3rd St. S.W. said they began knocking on neighbors’ doors in search of their dog.

When they knocked on the door of the home belonging to Charles Peddycoart at 413 3rd St. S.W., an argument broke out. Peddycourt reportedly retrieved a gun and shot all three men on the front porch.

Teconsa Tyree McDonald, 22, died at the scene. The two injured men are Calvin Johnson, 30, and Edwin Burgess, 18. They were transported to an area hospital for surgery for gunshot wounds to the torso. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Peddycoart is cooperating with the sheriff’s office and is in the process of being interviewed.
