2 Dead Following Late-Night Crash In Lake Hamilton

The Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Lake Hamilton Police Department are investigating a crash that killed two people.

LAKE HAMILTON, FL – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Hamilton Police Department are investigating a crash Wednesday night, Feb. 28, that killed two people.

The accident occurred on U.S. 27 at Kokomo Road around 8:30 p.m.

Police say a 2004 Dodge Durango and a 2008 Mazda were traveling north on U.S. 27 side by side when the front right fender of the Mazda hit the left rear of the Dodge, causing the Dodge to spin and slide off the the road into a grassy area where it flipped and landed in a ditch. The two backseat passengers who were not wearing seatbelts were ejected. Both Cobra Frost, 31, of Winter Park, and Wyatt Singleton of Orlando, who would have turned 62 years old today, died at the scene.

The driver, Isaac Neal, 40, of Cumming, Georgia, and the front-seat passenger, Lisa Mastin, 26, of Margate, were wearing seatbelts. Both were treated and released from Heart of Florida Hospital.

The driver of the Mazda, 20-year-old Juan Ayala of Winter Haven, sustained no injuries but his passenger, 15-year-old Fernando Ayala of Winter Haven, was treated and released from Heart of Florida Hospital.

The roadways in the area were closed for about five hours.
