60 Counts Of Possession Child Pornography Filed In Davenport Case

DAVENPORT, FL — A 24-year-old Davenport man was arrested on July 16 for possession of child pornography, a Polk County Sheriff's Office news release said.

A detective received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in May about a "Mike Jones" who downloaded images and videos of child pornography.

During the investigation, investigators discovered that Michael Anthony Jones lived in a motel unit in Davenport, and that the downloads showed children as young as 1-year-old being sexually abused.

Police said on July 16, police executed a search warrant at the unit where they found two young children and their mother living with Jones. Authorities took a cell phone that Jones owned, and found on it 60 files, video and images of child pornography, some victims as young as 2 to 3 months-old being sexually abused.

“I am grateful for organizations like NCMEC who vow to protect our children from sexual exploitation and abuse," said Sheriff Grady Judd in a news release. "We will do a full investigation regarding any and all children Jones had access to, to determine if they are victims of any sort of sexual abuse, including child pornography.”

The Department of Children and Families was notified.

Jones has been booked into the Polk County Jail and is being held on no bond until his first appearance which is scheduled for Friday.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said Jones is charged with 60 counts possession of child pornography, and he possibly faces additional charges pending the completion of the investigation.
