New citrus groves at Florida Southern College aims to help growers fight industry decline (tampabay28.com) β Florida Southern College in Lakeland is turning parts of its campus back into citrus groves to help rescue Florida's struggling citrus industry. Students and faculty are testing 45 tree varieties under protective netting, gathering data they'll share with growers and training future horticulture and agribusiness professionals for local groves and beyond.

Trail cameras help protect Florida panthers as I-4 wildlife overpass takes shape (businessobserverfl.com) β A new wildlife overpass on I-4 near Lakeland is taking shape, with trail cameras helping researchers understand how Florida panthers and other animals move through the area. The project aims to cut deadly vehicle collisions while preserving habitat connections as Central Florida continues to grow.
