1. 2026-2027 Lakeland Mayor's Council on the Arts Grant Program (lakelandgov.net) — Lakeland arts nonprofits have until September 15 to apply for up to $75,000 from the Mayor's Council on the Arts, funded through the City of Lakeland's 2026–2027 budget. Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations must be arts-focused, based within city limits, and meet experience requirements, with applications scored by a local panel before funds are awarded.
2. 2026-2027 Lakeland Youth Council (lakelandgov.net) — Lakeland middle schoolers can now apply to join the 2026–2027 Lakeland Youth Council, a 15-member advisory group that works directly with the Mayor and City Commission. If you're a Lakeland resident entering 8th grade, you can download the application and email it to the City Clerk to help shape local decisions that affect your daily life.
3. Lakeland Man Arrested After Telling Deputy He Would Turn Himself In On Monday (tampafp.com) — A 67-year-old Lakeland man with an outstanding warrant was arrested Thursday after telling a deputy by phone he'd surrender the following week. When he tried to leave a Sandra Way home in a pickup, the deputy intervened and took him into custody on the existing charge.
4. Two Wanted Men, One Truck: Routine Lakeland Traffic Stop Leads To Double Arrest (tampafp.com) — Deputies stopped a pickup in Lakeland near Brunnell Parkway and Memorial Boulevard and arrested two Polk County men wanted on felony warrants. The driver from Winter Haven and a Lakeland passenger were both taken to the Sheriff's Processing Center after records checks revealed outstanding charges.
