Bicyclist Dies In Haines City In Hit-And-Run Crash: Police

Haines City Police ask for the public's help in identifying the person responsible for fatally hitting a Davenport bicyclist.

HAINES CITY, FL — A 53-year-old man died after a car hit him on his bicycle, according to police, who said the car left the scene.

Patrick Ard of Davenport was struck from behind by what police believe was a Ford Fiesta made between the years 2014 and 2018. Parts from the car were left in the area of Hinson Avenue and Powerline Road, said a news release.

Ard died at the scene.

The fatal crash occurred June 1 before 6:30 a.m. Police believe that the car ran off the road before hitting the bicyclist as he also traveled west on Hinson Road.
