Deputies Find Possible Suspect In Fatal Hit-And-Run: PCSO

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said it has located a possible suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 44-year-old woman.

LAKELAND, FL — Police said after a three-day search for a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run, they possibly have the person who hit and killed a 44-year-old woman on Friday night in Lakeland as she walked home after making a purchase at a food mart near her house, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities said the victim, Nichole Williams, was hit by a vehicle on Reynolds Road between the intersections of Main Street and Barrington Avenue around 9 p.m.

Saturday morning, a person called police about a body they saw in a ditch on the east side of Reynolds Road, deputies said.

Police said Williams walked northbound on Reynolds Road when an older model truck or SUV hit her from behind.

The vehicle left the scene.

As of Monday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said they located a possible vehicle involved in the crash, and the owner of the vehicle is cooperating in the investigation.
