Deputies Search For Suspicious Man Lurking At Middle School

The Polk County Sheriff's Office was called to Crystal Lake Middle School after someone reported a suspicious man talking to a student.

LAKELAND, FL – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was called to Crystal Lake Middle School Thursday, March 15 prior to the opening of school at 7 p.m. in response to a report of a suspicious person.

The sheriff’s office received a call that a white man was speaking with a student outside the school, located at 2410 N. Crystal Lake Drive in Lakeland. The student was at the school early because her parent works there.

The man left before deputies arrived. The sheriff’s office conducted a helicopter and K9 search but was unable to locate the man.

The school was not locked down because the incident happened before school and the man left the area. However, deputies are stationed at the school and in the vicinity in case he shows up again.
