Elderly Woman In Winter Haven Killed In Mobile Home Fire
A neighbor was able to pull the husband out of the home, but couldn't make it back inside to rescue the woman due to smoke and flames.

WINTER HAVEN, FL — A mobile home fire has killed an elderly woman in Winter Haven.
Winter Haven firefighters were called to a mobile home on Lake Henry Drive at 7:19 a.m. Thursday and found flames shooting out of the front of a home.
A neighbor reported hearing what sounded like an explosion and going outside to investigate. The neighbor saw flames inside the mobile home and called for help before entering the home and finding an elderly man who lives there, said the fire department.

The neighbor was able to pull the man out, then tried to go back inside the burning home to rescue an elderly woman, but was not able to make it in due to smoke and flames.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes and began battling the fire, so they could enter the home. Once inside, they found the woman dead.

The fire was doused about five minutes after firefighters arrived.
The Winter Haven fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
