Free Flu Shots To Be Available For Polk County Residents

Anyone who would like to receive a flu shot can now get it for free in Bartow and Haines City.

BARTOW, FL -- Anyone who would like to receive a flu shot can now get it for free in Bartow and Haines City.

Free flu shots will be offered Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bartow Specialty Care Clinic at 1255 Brice Blvd., Bartow, and Thursday, Feb. 22 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Haines City Clinic, 1700 Baker Ave. E.

Before, only eligible children and adults could receive the vaccine for free. Adults 19 to 64 had to pay $33 and those older than 64 had to pay $59.

However, to combat this year’s flu epidemic, the Florida Department of Health in Polk County is offering a limited number of free shots on a first-come, first-served basis. There also is a limited supply of high-dose vaccines for those older than 64 years old. No appointment is needed.
