Haines City Man Accused Of Raping Mentally Challenged Woman

HAINES CITY, FL -- Polk County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a 63-year-old man for reportedly sexually battering and impregnating a woman with the mental capacity of a child.

Deputies arrested Claude Lewis Thursday, Sept. 27, after he admitted to having sex with the victim three times in March.

The victim, who has the mental capacity of a 7- to 10-year-old, told a friend that Lewis forced her to have sex with him. Deputies say the friend called the sheriff's office.

The victim told deputies that Lewis, who is a family friend, came to her home several times and knocked on her window, asking to come inside. When she let him in, she said he forced her to have sex with him despite her protests.

Lewis has been charged with sexual battery on a mentally defective person.
