Lake Morton Plaza Hosts Event to Thank First Responders

Lake Morton Plaza will host a Welcome Home Open House Dec. 4, 5-8 p.m. to thank Lakeland Fire Department and members of the community who assisted when fire broke out on the roof of the building on June 26.

Lake Morton Plaza staff and senior living facility’s 129 residents are excited to personally thank all who helped in the successful evacuation and relocation of residents that day, said Executive Director Shannon Clark.

Residents began returning to Lake Morton Plaza in August, and the residents who live on the 10thfloor returned to their homes in October.

“We are so happy to have everyone back in their homes,” Clark said. “Firefighters and members of the community came to our aid when we needed them most, and we want to honor them for all they did.”
