Lakeland Couple Charged In Brutal Beating Death Of 6-Year-Old

LAKELAND, FL — A Lakeland couple have been charged with murder for fatally beating a 6-year-old.

According to Lakeland Police, Larry Lewis Golden Jr. 26, and Breonna Breshay Wren, 21, of 929 N. Gilmore Ave., Apt. 10, have been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abus in the death of Golden's daughhter, Honesty Curry. Wren is Golden's live-in girlfriend.

According to police, the little girl and her 4-year-old sister came to Lakeland on May 25 to spend the summer with their father. On June 13, Golden called police when he found the 6-year-old unconscious. She was admitted to Tampa General Hospital with bruises covering her body, bite marks on her inner thigh, a crushed skull and brain swelling. She died June 14.

Golden and Wren, who is pregnant and has a 1- and 3-year-old with Golden, first told police that the injuries were the result of a fall. Wren later admitted to beating the girl on the buttocks with a leather belt.

However, Honesty's 4-year-old sister told police she was afraid of Golden and Wren because she'd seen them punch her sister in the face and stomach.

When police searched the apartment, they found traces of blood in a mop, broom and in the bathtub.They also discovered damp children's clothing hidden under some blankets.
