Man Engaged In Sex Acts With Child And Had Child Porn: Police

FORT MEADE, FL — A 36-year-old Forte Meade man was charged with 70 counts of possession of child pornography that shows him in the images, a police news release said.

Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office said they received a tip from the Fort Myers Police Department about images/videos of child pornography being downloaded from an address in the Fort Meade area where Steven Lacy DeVane lived.

Police said they discovered homemade images/videos of DeVane sexually abusing children to whom he had access.

Officials served DeVane a search warrant at his house, and inside a bedroom in the residence, they located items that appeared to be the same bedsheets, mirror and window coverings depicted in the homemade videos/images. They also said they located what appeared to be the same clothing worn by DeVane in the videos/images.

The victims shown in the videos/images were between 2 and 12 years old.

“DeVane not only engaged in child pornography, he also committed lewd acts in the presence of a baby he had access to – and filmed it," said Sheriff Grady Judd. "I am grateful, that with the help of our partners at NCMEC, our detectives were able to lock him up and rescue his victims from that beyond horrific environment.”

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said DeVane was arrested and charged with using a child to engage in sex acts, and he is charged with 70 counts possession of child pornography.

The Department of Children and Families was notified.
