Motorcyclist In Critical Condition Following Hit-And-Run

A 43-year-old Lakeland man is in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident on U.S. 98 at 2:44 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.

LAKELAND, FL -- A 43-year-old Lakeland man is in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident on U.S. 98 at 2:44 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.

A stolen Hyundai Accent traveling south on U.S. 98 made a left turn into Publix at Mann Road, cutting off a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Derrick Ray Shannon of Lakeland.

The motorcycle flipped over and slid nearly 150 feet before stopping..

The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene, dropping the car back off where it was stolen in Gator Creek RV Park. The owner of the car discovered the damage to the front end and contacted law enforcement.

Bobbi Darlene Fatz, 31, is considered a person of interest and is being sought by the Florida Highway Patrol. Anyone who has information is asked to call the FHP at 813-558-1800.
