Natural Gas Pipeline Tests To Cause Road Closures

The pipeline runs along streets in Polk County and will result in road closures.

LAKELAND, FL -- Florida Gas Transmission Co. will begin testing 15.8 miles of natural gas pipeline using water on Monday, March 12, as part of its ongoing pipeline safety management program.

The test will take place from midnight to 4 a.m. The pipeline runs along streets in Polk County and will result in road closures.

The following closures will occur:

* Rollinglen Loop West

* Rolling Meadow Drive

* Two southbound lanes on U.S. 98 from Marcum Road to Princeton Street

* Marcum Road from U.S. 98 to Walt Loop Road

* County Road 582/Old Polk City Road from Walt Loop Road to Epicenter Boulevard

* State Road 33/Commonwealth Avenue North from Voyles Loop South to Voyles Loop North

* The southbound lane of SR 33/Commonwealth Avenue North from Tavares Road to Voyles Loop North will be closed; flaggers will control two-way traffic

* General James A. Van Fleet State Trail between Fussell Road West and SR 33/Commonwealth Avenue North

* Flanders Station Drive

Any integrity issues identified during the test will be corrected before undergoing additional testing.
