Faces in the Crowd: Perspectives on American Figuration from the New Permanent Collection
Through Dec. 17
Find out what's happening in Lakelandfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
The second in a series of exhibitions showcasing the museum’s latest acquisitions of figurative American art. Approaching the concept of the human figure and its representation in art broadly, this exhibition continues to highlight the new principal collecting focus of the Permanent Collection, one that addresses American figurative art as a subject unto its own in painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Photo available.
Flashlight Night
Through Jan. 21
This exhibition features illustrations from the award-winning children’s book of the same name. It is the work of Lakeland artist and illustrator Fred Koehler. Photo available.
Bound Ascension
Through Jan. 14
Sculptor Gino Miles has worked in monumental and small dimensions since the 1970s. He works primarily in fabricated stainless steel and bronze, and the curvilinear, often weightless appearance of his pieces creates a visual contradiction with heavy metal materials, and challenges the fundamentally static nature of sculpture. Photo available.
