Pedestrian Killed On Rifle Range Road In Polk County
A pedestrian was killed Monday evening, Feb. 27, while trying to cross Rifle Range Road in the Wahneta area.

POLK COUNTY, FL – A pedestrian was killed Monday evening, Feb. 27, while trying to cross Rifle Range Road in the Wahneta area.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Dekeidra McClures, 23, of Auburndale was driving her Mercury Milan north on Rifle Range Road, approaching 11th Street East at about 9:15 p.m. when a man darted in front of her car.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both McClures and her son, who was with her, were wearing seatbelts and there is no indication of impairment or excessive speed.
Traffic deputies are still trying to identify the victim, who is Hispanic. They believe he may live nearby but he had on identification on him and his fingerprint scans yielded no results.

Rifle Range Road was shut down for approximately three hours during the investigation.
