$5,000 Cash Award Leading To Information About Killer Of Maebelle Cooper: Police

Detectives have asked the public's assistance with information that could lead to an arrest of a shooting death the occurred Dec. 24, 2020.

LAKELAND, FL — Investigators are asking the public's help with a one-year homicide investigation that happened in Lakeland on Christmas Eve 2020, the Lakeland Police Department said.

Maebelle Cooper, 70, was shot and killed shortly after 5:40 p.m. outside of a home in the 1500 block of Amos Avenune, detectives said. A nearby fight had occurred just before the shooting that she was not involved in, deputies said. The fight began in the area of Simpson Park.

The police department In partnership with Heartland Crime Stoppers Florida, are offering a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of the Lakeland victim.
