Polk County Man Arrested For Stuffing Sausage In His Pants

POLK COUNTY, FL — Is that a pickle in his pocket? No, it was just sausages stuffed down his pants.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested Joseph Barber, 57, after he was caught on surveillance video at a Dollar General store stuffing a package of Echrich Smoked Sausages down his pants.

Barber reportedly went to the register and paid for other groceries, but not the sausages. The store manager called the Polk County Sheriff's Office when they watched security footage back and saw Barber stealing the sausages.

A deputy went to Barber's home where he confessed to the theft and said it was "dumb" because he had the money to pay for the sausages.

He's been released from Polk County Jail on $1,000 bail. Barber was previously convicted of theft in 2010 and 2012.
