Polk Sheriff Investigates 2nd Fatal Accident Friday
Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to Frostproof July 27 for their second fatal crash investigation.

FROSTPROOF, FL -- Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to Frostproof late Friday morning, July 27, for their second fatal crash investigation of the day.
The crash occurred at 11:37 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 630 and North Palm Avenue.
Killed in the crash was 71-year-old Jack Lape (home address unknown), the driver of a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle which was registered in Ohio. The only other person involved was the driver of a 2013 Honda Accord, 25-year-old Bethany McBride of 1641 Camphor Drive, Lakeland. McBride was not injured.

According to the preliminary investigation, Lape was driving east on C.R. 630. McBride was northbound on North Palm Avenue and stopped at the intersection of C.R. 630. McBride then began making a left turn to go west on C.R. 630, and pulled into the path of Lape's motorcycle, which had the right of way.
Lape was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The investigation is ongoing and possible charges are pending.
