Pools, Parks and Rec Centers Scheduled To Reopen In Lakeland

Pools, parks and other facilities will open with safety health guidelines for Lakeland residents to follow, the city said on its website.

LAKELAND, FL — Lakeland residents can start to enjoy recreational activities at public park facilities and libraries again on June 1, 8 and 15, the city's website said. All places listed for reopening have safety health guidelines established to help stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Gandy and Simpson Park Pools are scheduled to reopen on June 1. The staff has put safety health guidelines in place to provide public safety and sanitation. They will clean the pool areas and bathhouses throughout the day.

Lake Bonny Skate Park will reopen on June 1 with safety health guidelines for skaters to follow.

Main Library and Jackson Library are scheduled to reopen on June 1. Since May 18, they have provided curb service operations.

The Kelly Recreation and Simpson Park weight rooms and cardio room facilities will reopen on June 8 with strict sanitization guidelines, and can only be used by booking an appointment. This is so that they can maintain proper social distancing and allow for cleaning. Walk-ins might be allowed if the facilities haven't reached maximum capacity.

Coleman-Bush Building reopens on June 15 for summer tutoring and enrichment classes with a radio of 1:9.

The city's teen camp program will be hosted in the Jaycee Building beginning June 15, and the program will have a 1:7 ratio and a total of 21 teenagers.
