St. Pete Fire Rescue Teams Deploy To Aftermath Of Hurricane Sally

Two teams with St. Pete Fire Rescue have deployed to affected areas of Hurricane Sally in the panhandle to help with rescue efforts.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two teams with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue have been deployed to the Florida panhandle to provide rescue services to the areas affected by Hurricane Sally.

"We also deployed an engine strike team this morning that will be based in Escambia County giving relief to the already strained firefighters in the area," said St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.

The panhandle and southern Alabama experienced flooding, power outages and damages.

Duke Energy will deploy 220 crews on Friday from around Florida to help restore power, officials said.

The Associated Press reported that more than 540,000 homes and businesses are without power in south Alabama and the panhandle.

One person in Orange Beach, Ala., has died as a result of Sally, according to the Associated Press.

Hundreds of people in the affected areas have been rescued by emergency personnel.
