Too Much Cologne, Pot Odor, Leads To Polk Drug Bust

Too much cologne and a strong odor of pot led to a drug bust in Polk County earlier this week, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

HAINES CITY, FL — Too much cologne and a strong odor of pot led to a drug bust in Polk County along Interstate 4, west of U.S. 27 this week.

Florida Highway Patrol said that a white 2014 Chevrolet was pulled over for doing 87 mph in a 70 mph zone on Wednesday around 2:48 p.m.

"The trooper noticed their extreme nervous behavior, coupled with the strong odors of cologne and marijuana," according to Florida Highway Patrol. "A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed nearly an ounce of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm which had been reported stolen out of Ohio in March of 2018."

Thirty-five-year-old Jonathan Thomas Perez of Orlando and 20-year-old Heather Loren Colledge of Winter Haven were each charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and two counts of drug paraphernalia. Perez was also charged with grand theft firearm and related weapon offenses.

They were both taken to the Polk County Jail..
