Tractor-Trailer Truck Overturns In Crash On U.S. 27

POLK COUNTY, FL – An accident on U.S. 27 in Polk County involving a tractor-trailer truck and a Nissan Sentra resulted in massive damage to both the truck and car but the drivers walked away with only minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Thursday, May 31 at 4:21 p.m. at the U.S. 17-92 exit ramp for southbound U.S. 27.

Leeana Marie Porta, 22, of Bartow, was traveling south on U.S. 27, approaching the exit ramp to eastbound U.S. 17-92 when she changed lanes in front of a tractor-trailer truck driven by Pierre Absalon, 45 of Winter Haven.

The impact caused the car and truck to leave the road and collide with a guardrail. The truck then overturned.

Both drivers were taken to Heart of Florida for treatment of minor injuries.
