2 Arrested In Zephyrhills Holiday Car Burglary Spree
During the late night and early morning of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, burglars broke into four cars.
ZEPHYRHILLS, FL -- Burglars determined to put a crimp in the Christmas celebrations of some Zephyrhills residents are now in the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.
During the late night and early morning of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, burglars broke into four cars on Stebbins Avenue and Alston Avenue, stealing money, firearms, ammunition and personal items.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Targeted Area Response team investigated the burglaries with assistance from the Department of Corrections and the Zephyrhills Police Department resulting in the arrest of two 19-year-old men on Dec. 26 and 27.

Kevin Michael Mellerke of 38424 2nd Ave., Zephyrhills, and Dalton James Burkett of 37521 Marcliff Terrace, Zephyrhills,have been charged with 18 felony offenses. Investigators recovered guns, ammunition, narcotics, drug paraphernalia and stolen property during the arrest. The investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional charges.
