2 Charged In New River Auto Burglary Spree

The arrests were made after a deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle in the subdivision.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FLβ€”Two men believed to be responsible for a burglary spree in New River subdivision in Wesley Chapel are in custody after attempting to evade Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies.

A Pasco County Sheriff's deputy was patrolling the neighborhood after several cars were broken into on Dec. 10 and 12 when he noticed a suspicious vehicle turning around in a cul-de-sac. When the deputy attempted to stop the car, the driver fled. The deputy pursued the car to the entrance of New River subdivision at State Road 54 where the driver gave up the chase. The deputy arrested the two 21-year-old occupants of the car, Allen Anthony McKinnon of 307 9th St., N.E., Ruskin, and Le’Siah Chavis of 3552 Coats Road, Zephyrhills. Sheriff’s officials say both confessed to the burglaries in the subdivision and said they fled because they had just committed more auto burglaries. During a search of the car, deputies discovered assorted stolen property and a wallet. They are charged with five counts of auto burglary.
