New Employees Join Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections

June 4, 2013. Tampa, FL-Today, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer announced the addition of two new members to his management team.

 

“These new employees bring fresh perspective and depth of knowledge in their areas of expertise,” said Craig Latimer, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections. “I feel great about the strong leadership team in place now, and we are working together to plan carefully for the 2014 elections.”

David Marquez has joined the office as Elections Technology Manager and is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of our elections run smoothly for voters in Hillsborough County. While overseeing all election technology, equipment and processes, Marquez will be involved in equipment testing, ballot design, vote tabulation and reporting, and more.

Marquez is an expert in information technology, with a specialization in privacy and security issues, as well as call center management. He retired from the US Navy as Chief Petty Officer in 2005, where he was responsible for telecommunications technology in the Pacific.  He later served as Director of IT Infrastructure for Corinthian Colleges, maintaining the security and privacy of information systems, communication lines and equipment, as well as providing IT support for three call centers.

 

Marquez has been sharing his information systems and cyber-security expertise online and in the classroom as an adjunct computer science instructor at Hillsborough Community College, Everest University and ITT Technical Institute. He also serves as assistant den leader for Cub Scout Pack 603 in Riverview. Marquez attended Hawaii Pacific University, where he earned a B.S. in computer science and an M.S. in information systems.

 

Gerri Kramer has joined the Supervisor of Elections Office as Communications Manager.  Her primary responsibility is to make sure Hillsborough County citizens have a clear understanding of what they need to do to register and vote, and she’s using social media, traditional media outreach, direct emails and more to share information from the Supervisor of Elections Office with the public. She’s also overseeing internal communication with permanent staff as well as temporary employees, poll workers, non-profits and others who share in the huge effort that goes into running elections in Hillsborough County.

 

Before joining the Supervisor of Elections Office, Kramer handled similar communications tasks for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay and Congregation Rodeph Sholom. Prior to that, she worked as a senior writer/producer and account manager for DWJ Television, a broadcast public relations and video production company.  Kramer is on the board of the Wilson Middle School Foundation and serves as a mentor through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  She holds a B.A. in public policy from Duke University.
