A Fruit that Can Fight Disease and Aging

All berries are loaded with antioxidants, which are known to fight disease and slow aging.

All berries are loaded with antioxidants, which are known to fight disease and slow aging. Antioxidants help to destroy in your body something called a "free radical." A free radical is an unstable molecule that has been linked to many diseases and aging. It’s good to consume foods that have lots of antioxidants and berries happen to be one of those foods.

I encourage you to enjoy some this week. They are seasonal, though, so I just look for whatever is in season. You can eat them just by themselves or in a smoothie (freeze the berries, then put them in the blender with just frozen fruit and about 4 ounces of OJ, cranberry juice or apple juice).

High antioxidant berries include:

1)    Blueberries
2)    Raspberries
3)    Blackberries
4)    Strawberries
