Doctor's In: Life makes you crazy! (Old post edited)
Life takes a toll on all of us. Yes, life does make us crazy from time to time.

After years of ruminating over this possibility, I have finally come to the definite conclusion that life makes you crazy. Few can escape madness while experiencing what life has to offer. The most recent example of this phenomenon is the crazed ex-policeman who is currently running around murdering people to clear his name. As I understand it the whole business began because he accused a fellow officer of kicking an alleged criminal setting up a chain of events that, as he suggests, destroyed his life.
Locally, one of the most staid County Commissioners ends up with a mug photo for domestic violence. Having known and respected this commissioner for years, I can only say he is a victim of the “life makes you crazy” syndrome. The identified commissioner has an identical twin brother who I would often mistake for the commissioner. I would humorously accuse him of switching places with his brother at commission meetings to take a needed break from the never ending complaints from, you got it, “crazy” constituents.
One extreme defense of gun rights is to protect oneself from our government. One well known attorney states that 260,000,000 people have been murdered by their governments and buried in a pit. A suggestion that if we do not keep our arms our government might do the same; now that is crazy! I wonder if he felt this way with Bush as president. This gentleman is educated; he’s an attorney. As a physician I have always had my issues with some attorneys but I have typically found them the most rational people around; very smart and focused. As I said, life makes you crazy.

As for myself, if you see me on the tennis court you will absolutely conclude that I am crazy. For some reason playing the game brings out the worst aspects of my character. I scream, drop or throw my racket, cry out, scowl at my partner if he makes a costly error. I have no idea what prompts such behavior. I can only conclude – life has made me crazy!
