Juniors Not Thwarted by Theft: Replant .5 miles of Pinwheels
Pinwheels for Prevention Keep On Spinning

Easter Sunday Pasco Juniors were on State Road 56 planting blue and silver pinwheels in honor of Child Abuse Prevention month. On Wednesday they were gone. However, project manager Patricia Murphy will not let the theft discourage her attempts to raise awareness.
“We couldn’t have done it without the help of Sierra Properties,” said Murphy, “now they are attached to the wooden posts owned by Sierra and are not easily removed. They span state road 56 west from I-75 to Wesley Chapel Boulevard about .5 miles.”
If the stolen pinwheels are recovered Juniors will continue attaching pinwheels to the posts donated by Sierra Properties moving east toward I-75 over the hump to Seven Oaks. “I was so disappointed when I drove by on Wednesday. I stopped and spoke to the three construction crews working on State Road 56 and they all said the same thing, the pinwheels were there on Tuesday and gone when they came to work on Wednesday. Even the fella that has the fruit stand couldn’t believe it,” said Murphy, “It’s easy to get discouraged after something like this but I rallied the volunteers and got back out there. We raised $2400 with this project and I am not going to let down our sponsors or the kids these funds will support.”
