Dance And Gymnastics Academy's New Location Now Open
The new facility is over twice the size and has more to offer
The doors are open and classes are in session at the Dance and Gymnastics Academy of Tampa's new facility near Livingston and State Road 54. With 12,000 square feet of space, the new gym and dance facility is more than twice the size of the old facility, which was located off Land O' Lakes Boulevard.
With the growth in physical size, the enrollment has doubled as well, officials say.
Owner Susan Sisk says that one group that is growing is the boys’ gymnastics program. “We now have three boys’ classes, which is really exciting.”

Marketing director Danielle Saavedra says, “The boys’ gymnastics programs are a great precursor to many sports. It gives a good jumpstart to sports programs."
Also added are competitive cheerleading classes. Having dance, gymnastics and cheerleading classes helps busy parents who may have several children to schedule for. Discounted tuition is also available for families with more than one child enrolled in classes.

Sisk is very pleased with the new building, especially since she was able to design it.
“We were living with these problems for five to seven years [at our old facility] which helped us envision what we wanted. We were able to fix all of the issues.”
The Dance and Gymnastics Academy prides itself on being a family friendly environment. In the new building’s design, “our considerations are kid considerations,” Sisk adds.
Many in the gymnastics field warned Sisk against having a large waiting room, but Sisk wouldn’t hear of it. She loves the fact that families are able to watch and cheer on their kids.
“I’m glad I didn’t listen to those with a business perspective on what to do. We are here for a family environment and to share relationships with kids and the memories they create here.”
The dance floor is as large as the stage many of the dancers would perform on. “We can always break it up into two classrooms,” Sisk says.
Adds Saavedra, “but we are not here for profit. “
And, while there may be other changes in store in the future, Sisk couldn’t be happier.
