Dr's In: Obamacare may just work

It appears the Republicans have painted themselves in a corner on a number of issues.  Many of these issues like gun rights, draconian immigration policy, repealing Obamacare, threatening to shut down government; may play well to hardcore conservatives but the large populations centers don’t buy it.  It’s those centers that win national and state elections.

Conservatives worst nightmare is the possibility that Obamacare just might work.  They have spent so much capital trying to repeal it that they may finally realize that it is here to stay.  No viable plan to replace it that makes sense has been offered. Republicans continue to be against any and all things that Obama presents and smart people including some smart conservatives are feeling, “enough already.”

What will the Affordable Care act do for Americans (Obamacare).  It will provide affordable health care insurance for all, even with preexisting conditions.  Insurance will be mandated. This will require the healthy to have insurance; controversial but necessary to stabilize and reduce insurance rates for everyone.  Finally, so the mandate will be doable for low income families, it provides subsidies. With all the doom and gloom and extremist efforts to wreck Obamacare, it’s model is doing  just fine in Massachusetts and was implemented by one of their own, Mitt Romney.

In all fairness, I have lots of problems with Obamacare but admit it is a great step forward to make our populations healthier.  I would have preferred Medicare for all, or the public option, or expanded Medicare not expanded Medicaid.  All that said, Obamacare is still misunderstood by many Americans thanks to a very good sandbagging by Republicans. 

However, there seems to be light at the end of this tunnel as Americans see the value of the implementation.  I would predict the Republican Party will find itself very red-faced in their unceasing failed efforts to derail Obamacare.  This is the same party that fights Social Security and Medicare.  Democrats only have to sit back and watch the show.
