Dr's In: Zimmerman's trial flawed

This note is not about the George Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence. That should be decided by a non-partial jury presented all the facts in the case. It should not involve media interference or the possible wishes of the Governor’s office. The verdict should be fair determined by an unbiased jury not subject to a carnival like atmosphere.

The media judged Zimmerman before a proper investigation. The result turned the Zimmerman case into a circus which still continues. In spite of the media frenzy around this prejudiced case the judge still allowed the press in the courtroom. Only he can explain that decision.

Then of course there was the evidence selectively given to the defense. Glen Kruidbos claimed the evidence was edited before given to Zimmerman’s attorneys. It proved to be true and he was fired. This is not an American trial it is a political trial. We usually witness them in other countries. The Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Trial, Joe McCarthy and the House of Un-American Activities and of course the Russian show trials. These things go on but they are not supposed to happen here, today.

Why there is such an effort to convict Zimmerman and control the evidence for his defense is contrary to our judicial system and the law. The fact that the person with enough courage to bring this to our attention is fired should raise serious alarms about judicial interference by perhaps government officials.

I am not suggesting that Zimmerman is guilty or innocent. I do suggest he get a fair trial away from the cameras and talking heads on the nightly news. A mistrial is in order and another venue required far away from the crime for an appropriate airing of the evidence so a proper verdict can be decided; perhaps another State. There is more at stake here than Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence. Our justice system may be on trial.
