Faster Gun Permits Offered for Vets, Active Duty Military

Florida is speeding up the process for those who qualify to receive concealed weapons permits.

Active duty military personnel and veterans get to move to the front of the line when it comes to obtaining Florida concealed weapon or firearms licenses.

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putman announced earlier this week that his department is now expediting applications on behalf of those who serve or have done so.

“The men and women who serve and have served our country deserve all of the support we can provide,” Putnam was quoted in a media release as saying. “We are pleased to expedite active military members and veterans’ applications for a concealed weapon license, and our partnership with tax collectors throughout the state will make this process even more convenient.”

In order to receive expedited service, active duty military and veterans need to include a copy of their Common Access Card or other form of military ID when they submit applications. The department will also accept copies of current orders as proof of active duty status, the agency stated. Honorably discharged veterans need to submit a copy of their DD 214 long form with their applications.

Permit applications are accepted by mail or in person. To obtain a copy of the application or find a location to apply, visit FreshFromFlorida.com/CWL.
