Free Adoptions as Shelter Goes Over Capacity
Pasco County is giving dogs away through Saturday.

Tampa Bay area residents in search of a new pet will find it’s been “raining cats and dogs” in Pasco County.
With a shelter that’s “way over capacity” with 156 dogs and 79 cats, Pasco County Animal Service is waiving adoption fees for dogs and lowering them to $15 for cats through 6:30 p.m. Aug. 1. Pasco kicked off the “raining cats and dogs” adoption event Tuesday.
Pets available for adoption leave the shelter micro-chipped, vaccinated and either spayed or neutered. While adoption fees are free for dogs, Pasco residents will have to pay the $10 licensing fee.
