A family hunting outing turned tragic Tuesday when Pasco County deputies say a 9-year-old boy accidentally shot his grandfather with a .22-caliber rifle.
The incident unfolded late Tuesday afternoon at 8544 Old Lakeland Highway in Zephyrhills as Marple Miller, 54, and his grandson were “hunting or shooting in the woods,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.
Miller was accidentally shot in the abdomen and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies say.
