Help 'Stamp Out Hunger' This Saturday
The 23rd annual Letter Carriers' Food Drive takes place May 9.

Tampa Bay area residents might want to check their mailboxes for a special delivery.
Letter carriers throughout the region are passing out empty grocery bags and postcards to announce the impending arrival of a national food drive. Staged by the National Association of Letter Carriers, the annual event is now in its 23rd year.
The 2015 Letter Carriersโ โStamp Out Hungerโ Food Drive is set for this Saturday, May 9. All participants need to do is fill up those supplied bags with nonperishable food items and leave them out by their mailboxes for postal workers to pick up on Saturday.

The massive undertaking is staged in 10,000 cities across the country and involves some 175,000 postal workers, the associated notes on its website. The drive has resulted in the collection of well over 1 billion pounds of food since its inception. Food collected locally is delivered directly to community food banks to assure that help offered in a community stays in a community.
