Here's the Beef!

The centerpiece of the Sunlake Seahawks offense is a lot of weight coming at you.

The Sunlake Seahawks have several offensive sets. One in particular is especially scary for anyone lining up against them. On power plays the Seahawks line up in their "Rhino" package. The "I" in the formation consists of: senior center Nate McCoole, senior quarterback Cameron Stoltz, senior full back Paul Scott, senior tail back Jerome Samuels.

Stoltz is a very good runner and averages five or six called runs per game but, "Here's the Beef" deals with the other three: the Rhinos.

Here's the tale of the tape:

Now imagine if they were clay figures and you could mold them all into one man. You would have an 18 foot 5 inch, 760-pound man coming after you. If you were interested in knowing where the beef was at, it's in the middle of the Seahawk offense.

Let's meet the meat:

Nate McCoole:

What is your favorite thing about playing offensive line?

Driving people into the dirt.

What professional player would you like to model your game after?

Jeff Saturday.

What do you want to happen on every snap?

A pancake or roach block.

I had to ask Nate what a roach block was. He told me it's when you knock a defender on his back and he looks like a roach upside down. Nate is heavily considering attending West Point.

Paul Scott:

What is your favorite thing about playing full back?

Blowing up a linebacker.

What professional player would you liken yourself to?

John Connor.

What would you like to happen on every play?

Create a hole for the running back.

Paul plays at linebacker much of the time but relishes his opportunities at full back. He has received electronic letters from Bucknell and New Haven.

Jerome Samules:

What is your favorite thing about playing running back?

I like the challenge of seven guys trying to bring me down.

What professional football player would you like to model your game after?

Adrian Peterson.

What is the first thing you look for when you get the handoff?

I try to focus on one guy to beat.

What's the second thing?

Stalk blocks from the wide receivers to see if there's something there.

What would you like to happen on every play?

Embarass someone.

Samuels has a fierce running style, more like LaGarrette Blount than Adrian Peterson but his size, speed and ability to make moves and runover people will attract all sorts of attention as the year goes on. He has received some interest from FIU.

The Seahawks take their heavy package in the playoffs for the first time in school history today as they travel to Ocala to take on Vanguard in the regional quarterfinals.
