Inmate Gets Cheated, Not Bail After Handing Over Credit Card

An inmate at the Land O' Lakes Detention learned a hard lesson when he gave a fellow inmate his credit card to bail him out of jail.

LAND O' LAKES, FL — An inmate at the Land O' Lakes Detention learned a hard lesson when he gave a fellow inmate his credit card to bail him out of jail.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Ryan Kumor, 32, of New Port Richey was supposed to give the inmate's credit card to his girlfriend, so she could put up bail for the inmate.

Instead, deputies said Kumor told his girlfriend that the inmate owed him money, and she should use his credit card to put money into Kumor's jail commissary account, get her car out of impound and make various purchases.

According to deputies, the girlfriend put nearly $1,000 worth of purchases on the credit card before the inmate realized that his credit card wasn't being used to post his bail.

Kumor was charged with scheming to defraud.
