Job Fair Set By Pasco County Schools

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — Tampa Bay area residents interested in launching teaching careers might want to put Feb. 25 down on their calendars. That’s the date Pasco County Schools has announced it will play host to a job fair.

Set to take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Sunlake High School gymnasium, 3023 Sunlake Blvd., in Land O’ Lakes, the fair is open to college graduates and soon-to-be graduates. Teaching opportunities, the district said in a media release, are open in language arts, math, science, social studies and special education. The district is also in need of school psychologists, counselors and social workers.

“This job fair is not just for education majors, so those with or seeking degrees in other subjects are encouraged to attend,” the district noted. “Through the district’s Professional Development Certification program, individuals who possess a bachelor’s degree, and who qualify for a temporary teaching certificate under Florida law, receive professional preparation and experience required to earn the Florida Professional Certificate.”

Pasco County offers a beginning teacher salary of $38,120 for those who work a 196-day year. The district also provides a no-cost health insurance option, has its own wellness centers, provides sick leave, planned days off and employer-paid life insurance.

The district intends to have benefits and certification staff on hand at the event so potential hires can learn more. Door prizes, including an iPad Mini, will also be offered.
